There's a lot going on now with hip hop today like, beefs, processed beefs, and the commercial side of it is really screwing this game up. Some believe the decline of hip hop is the new artist, availability of great sounds, computer programs, mix-tape, and the availability to the internet. in my opinion all these excuses are just false... Record companies don't "Know a Hit"... the know what sold last... So, they have all of their artist in the studio producing music sounding like the last hit... Its not the new artist because they doing them, get signed, then told what to put out. Its not the availability of great sounds (sorry Lil Jon it isn't) or the intimacy of searching/finding that sound nobody has because the record company isn't looking for your "new sound" unless your HOT in your hood and selling just fine without a record company. It all boils down to the company... then there is the mix-tapes!!! W T F is a mix-tape!!! with all the free downloads on commercial music now we add free music to get that underground artist attention... so he can get signed, and his music gets downloaded for free anyway? Madness!!!
I don't see why more more of these artist make these record companies they employees and not the other way around. Please correct me if I'm wrong but last time I heard of major control of the smaller street company was No Limit, Cash Money, Bad Boy, Death Row...... (tune in soon for the next episode)!!!
